Whitening

Everybody wants a white smile, and there are a variety of products and procedures that can accomplish this for you.  How do you determine what’s the best treatment for you?  Talk to Dr. Peter Vanstrom…he can tell you if you are a candidate for bleaching.

Bleaching may not enhance your smile if you have had bonding or tooth-colored fillings placed in your front teeth. The whitener will not affect the color of these materials, and they will stand out in your newly whitened smile. In these cases, you may want to investigate other options, like porcelain veneers or dental bonding.

In-Office Bleaching

Options at Artistic Dentistry include both in-office bleaching and at-home bleaching, and Dr. Vanstrom can help you decide which whitening treatment is best for you. He may suggest a procedure that can be done at Artistic Dentistry. This procedure is called chair-side bleaching and may require more than one office visit taking from 30 minutes to one hour.

At-Home Bleaching

Or, there are several types of bleaching products available for use at home which Dr. Vanstrom can dispense. These products contain peroxide(s), which actually bleach the tooth enamel using carbamide peroxide as the bleaching agent. Peroxide-containing whiteners typically come in a gel and are placed in a custom-fitted mouth guard. Usage regimens vary; some products are used for about twice a day for two weeks, and others are intended for overnight use for one to two weeks.
