What Are Implants?
Are you missing one or more teeth? Do you have a root canal that is failing? Implants offer an affordable, secure and permanent alternative to a bridge, a partial or dentures.
A dental implant is a small man-made titanium fixture that serves as a replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. Titanium is used because it is compatible with our human body. The dental implant is placed in the bone of the upper or lower jaw and functions as an anchor for the replacement tooth. After the bone has grown around the implant, implants can hold a crown, bridge or over-denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place.
Unlike most general dentists who must refer their patients out, Dr. Peter Vanstrom has extensive training and expertise in implant procedures and is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Implants provide additional support where teeth are missing without putting unnecessary stress on remaining natural teeth. They may be used to support the replacement of a single missing tooth or a complete functional set for individuals who have lost many or all of their teeth. Joanie Camera is one of Dr. Vanstrom’s patients who lost all of her teeth and went from having a full set of dentures to implants with new fixed teeth as natural as her own. What are Mini Dental Implants for Dentures?
We take pride in offering our patients the latest technology in dental implants. We use an FDA-approved dental implant system that is proven to provide a long term solution for many of our denture wearing patients. This dental implant system, which is patient-friendly and cost-effective, includes a miniature titanium (an extremely strong and durable metal) implant with a ball-shaped head which acts like the root of a tooth and a tiny retaining fixture which acts as a socket. An O-ring connects the two and securely holds the denture in place, which provides comfort and peace of mind when speaking and chewing.
