Meet Joe Monti

Joe Monti couldn’t believe his luck…after just a few years, his extensive bridge work was failing. He’d spent thousands of dollars and countless hours in the dentist chair and he could not believe that he’d have to go through all that again.

“I guess we had taken some short cuts the first time. I was determined not to make that mistake again. A friend told me about Dr. Vanstrom, so I scheduled a consultation,” Joe explains.

“Joe arrived at our office in late summer 2007 with a loose long span bridge that made up his smile. The bridge itself had been completed at a different dental office within the past

few years. It had failed a lot sooner than it should have and the patient was very frustrated,” Dr. Peter Vanstrom, owner of Artistic Dentistry, explains.

The team at Artistic Dentistry spent a significant amount of time gathering records, evaluating his teeth, gums and supporting bone structure, so that Dr. Vanstrom could develop a unique and precise dental treatment plan for Joe. As he spent time getting to know Joe, he noted there were other factors that affected the treatment plan as well.

“Mr. Monti spoke professionally as a professor and certainly could not have his smile falling out while addressing his audience…he had to have an aesthetic and functional temporary smile so that he could continue lecturing throughout the course of treatment. He also had a history of medically controlled diabetes and high blood pressure. His medical history made it imperative that his immune system not be taxed by bacterial infection due to redecayed teeth and tartar, or plaque, build up around the ill-fitting crowns.”

Joe says that at the initial consultation he was immediately comfortable with the team at Artistic Dentistry and several things about the practice stood out. “I’ve been to a lot of dentists through the years, but I’d never felt as cared for as I did the first time I walked in the office and met with Dr. Vanstrom. He asked a lot of questions and explained everything to me in great detail every step of the way, and his staff is just so friendly and compassionate. I knew that we were going to spend a lot of time together over the course of the treatment and I wanted to be in a caring, up-beat environment.”

Joe says that another thing that impressed him about Dr. Vanstrom is that he has expertise in all aspects of restoration work. “It’s so convenient to go to one comfortable location for everything…not to have to go to various specialists for gum surgeries, root canals or whatever.”

Over the course of the next nine months, Joe made many visits to Artistic Dentistry for gum and bone surgeries, new crown build-ups and root canals. “A lot of appointments were necessary…no shortcuts…but the visits were actually pleasant and I’m very pleased with the results. I now have an attractive and functional smile, and I was so pleased with the results that I decided to go ahead and have my lower teeth restored as well, including a surgical implant placement that Dr. Vanstrom did right in his office,” Joe affirms.

Along with his new smile, Joe was given the proper tools and home care education to keep his new bridgework infection free so that it will last a lifetime. Additionally, he goes to visit the team at Artistic Dentistry’s hygiene department every 90 days to ensure that bacteria, which could readily re-invade if allowed, does not redevelop. “This time the work was done right, and I have the added assurance of Dr. Vanstrom’s Smiles for a Lifetime Guarantee.
